When trying to accommodate furnishings for a cramped space, loft beds are a great solution. Kids loft beds are especially essential, as children typically have the smaller bedrooms in the house. A loft bed is basically like half of a bunk bed, elevating the mattress to the top bunk while leaving space for other activities beneath the bed.

A loft bed should be sturdy and safe, especially if it is to be used for children. The fewer connection points the bed as when you build a loft bed, the less possibility there is of a malfunctioning part or piece. A loft bunk bed allows floor space to be used for other purposes, including seating areas, television stands, and even computer desks. The only precaution with a loft bed is taking care not to hit your head when you stand beneath the bed.

These beds are great choices for small apartments or college dorms, where there is limited space for bedding. It also works well for studio or efficiency apartments, where the bed must share a space with the living room furniture. With a loft bed, your personal sleeping space is elevated, keeping your bed more private, as well as out of the way when guests arrive. This means more room for other furniture and belongings. While you could build your own loft bed, if you are not experienced in any kind of furniture construction, it may be best for you to buy and assemble a prefabricated bed. Also, small children who could be easily injured by falling off the elevated bed should not be using a loft bed. With a few small safety precautions, a loft bed is a great answer to limited space or simply for children’s rooms where a loft bunk bed would be considered “cool”.
