Mink Blanket - Fancy A Touch Of Mink?

While the name may be a bit misleading, a mink blanket that you wll find readily available is not typically made of animal fur at all. The typical Korean mink blanket is 100% acrylic, so while having that luxurious bedding that feels like real mink, you don't have to worry about your conscience.

Most of these blankets are made and imported from Korea, thus the term Korean mink blankets. However, the soft blankets sold as mink products are often not made from the animal's actual fur. With advances in technology, acrylic threads can mimic the feel of actual mink fur, making luxurious beds that you can literally sink into.

Faux mink offers a considerable amount of warmth compared to standard blankets, with the acrylic mimicking the mink in its insulative properties. Much like goose down, the acrylic faux mink will allow your skin to breathe beneath the blanket while trapping cool air beneath the blanket in the summer and holding in body heat in the winter.

Real mink is much more expensive and much harder to find where other blankets are sold. Also, the real hair on a true Korean mink could cause allergy-related issues. Real mink has a tendency to shed, as well. If you do choose natural mink for your blanket, you'll want to be sure to remember that it not only must be cleaned but conditioned; this will replenish the oils in the mink that maintain longevity of the blanket. Cleaning of mink is recommended annually, unless you have a mishap, in which case you will want to get your blanket cleaned immediately.

Cleaning of the acrylic Korean faux mink is much simpler, as you can choose to either launder it carefully and hang dry or send your blanket to the dry cleaners (this is the recommendation). Whether you choose faux mink or real Korean mink, you are sure to be more comfortable with this luxury bedding.
